As interim Senior Vice President Late-Stage Development, Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism (CVRM), BioPharmaceuticals R&D, I help drive strategy across the entire value chain of the late-stage development portfolio, stimulating novel scientific research and innovative development designs, and lead the global clinical development strategy.

Previously I was Chair of the Digital Health Committee of the European Society of Cardiology (2019-2022) and from 2016-2020 was a Non-Executive Director of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) in the UK. I was a Consultant Cardiologist at the Royal Brompton Hospital, London and led the multi-professional heart failure service from 2001 until 2022, looking after thousands of patients with complex cardiovascular problems.

I remain as Adjunct Professor at the School of Cardiovascular Medicine (Faculty of Lifesciences and Medicine) at King's College London, Visiting Professor at Imperial College London, and Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at the Brompton Hospital, London.

Working in partnership with patients has been a lifelong passion. I was previously a Trustee of the Atrial Fibrillation Association, and Chair of the Clinical Advisory Board of the patient-led heart failure charity, Pumping Marvellous. I remain committed to ensure our clinical trial programmes are patient- (and site-) centric.

Through two decades as a clinical academic cardiologist, I have witnessed the profound impact of medical advances on patient care. I can also see the need to provide evidence of value for patients, clinicians, regulators and reimbursement authorities. Now, at AstraZeneca, I can help bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and real-world solutions, merging scientific excellence with the power to heal hearts on a global scale.
